A royal escapade on roman soil

After a guided tour of the oldest visitable silver mines in Europe, where royal coins were minted in the age of Charlemagne, take a seat in a gourmet restaurant, labeled Logis 3 Cocottes.
Enjoy happy dreams in a warm and spacious castle guest room.

Day 1 : Schedule to be determined:  Discover the Melle silver mines: from the 6th through the 10th century, silver lead ore was extracted and used to mint the money of the Franc kingdom. Your guide will also present the Carolingian garden where medicine, tinctorial and culinary plants were cultivated at the time
7:30 P.M.: Dinner in a not-to-be-missed gourmet restaurant.
Example of the menu : Gatine snail cassolette (named after the baking dish) with cream of nettle,
Rex du Poitou rabbit with green garlic and spaghetti with zucchini, the day's dessert (drink not included).

Baroque chancel screen, defensive walls, the 12th and 13th-century Roman churches Saint-Savinien and Saint-Hilaire, the 15th century "Hôtel du Ménoc", timber-framed houses...

Lunch on your own
2:30 P.M.: While digesting, take a stroll down the pathways of the
"Arboretum du Chemin de la Découverte".
This itinerary around the old town presents 1000 varieties of trees and 250 species and varieties of ancient botanical roses.
